Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

I just wish Canada would stand on its own two feet. We have all the ability and resources walk tall and carry a big stick, but instead we run from bosom bosom looking for someone to protect us.

We are 40 million people and the good lord has granted us the geographic luxury of having all the resources in the world. Jesus H Christ. Get to work, get rich and get strong Canada.

Traitorous MPs need to made public. Just like traitorous MWOs.
And having ex-PM’s run from the bosom of Sophie to the bosom of Katy certainly doesn’t help us.

As much as I despise the two of them, I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. And the faster Canada pulls away from the decade of darkness he created, and him, the better.

Don't say his name three times.

Its was merely an example of a CDN running from one set of bosom's to another, lol.

Point 2 was about the lab, which releasing that information without damaging national security or interest would be walking a very fine line.
Releasing the info now would make our new allies look bad. That could harm future trade deals which means its a matter of national security to let them get away with it.

One trade deal makes us allies? Many people seem to jump to thr assumption that this trade deal puts us in bed with china. They are the 2nd largest economy in the world, we cant just not trade with them. What matters is the safe guards we put i place to protect our selves. The same goes for any other country.

That was disingenuous my friend....

China is, and always will be an adversary / competitor....but that does not mean that we can't and shouldn't sell them stuff

I guess what I want to know is what is a “strategic partnership” and why are we in one with two of the most odious regimes in the world?

People who are smarter than me who get paid more than me to think about national security are very concerned.

I have zero heartache against buying and selling stuff to China. I think Canadians deserve to know which Members of Parliament were secretly working with the CCP, and I suspect not wanting to upset China is one of the excuses our government uses to not hold them accountable. Ends justify the means stuff. It's not my tea.

Got it. I too would like to see names named.

I never said don't trade with China. I said trading with China is an excuse to not name their agents.

Michelle Rempel Garner on "the speech" (also archived here) ....
... with this bit standing out for me as at least suggesting that PP will likely continue more down the opposing path than trying-to-help-where-he-can-support-it path:

As a reminder, this from PP as of May of last year:

More on "where next for Team Blue?" from the National Post.

Prime Minister Mark Carney’s speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, resonated in Mexico, a country which, much like Canada, has also been forced to grapple with the mercurial temperament of its much larger and powerful U.S. neighbour.

Carney’s speech was “in tune with the current times,” said Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, during her morning news conference Wednesday, in response to a Davos-related question from a journalist.

“That was a very good speech by Carney, from Prime Minister Carney, I don’t know if you heard it.”
When was the last time a Canadian PM went to a international get together and delivered a speech being talked about around the world?

Poilievre is going to first have to learn the difference between constructive criticism and fly-shit-in-pepper-gotcha. Then he's going to have to apply it remorsely, never yielding to the temptation to revert to the latter.

Because maybe the US will eventually stop being so odious?

Yeah Right Lol GIF by slicedbread
