Hey guys
I was wondering if anyone had or knew somewhere where I see a pic of the New G-Wagen with the turret system and C9.  Thanks
James

There's one or two in the photo gallery section of this site.  Check under "vehicles".  They're aren't very big pictures though.

I haven't seen any pictures of the new G wagon with this turret yet. None on Cbt Camera. Did a google search and didn't find one either...

There are C9 pictures in the picture gallery.

See not very big.   The first one has a .50 cal.   I can't tell what is mounted in the second pic.

Something I noticed.   In the first pic, the middle window (backseat passenger) at the bottom.   Is that a hole/gun port, or just a shadow or reflection. Would make sense to have a hole to shoot out of.   Otherwise it's could be a death trap.

Do you think we will buy any of those mounted grenade launchers for this vehicle or is that unnecessary considering what the canadian armys role is?

The Canadian Army's role is to destroy the f*cking enemy, this Peace keeping/babysitting we do can only be done by those who are trained for war,as the use of deadly armed force is always a possibility.I cannot stand the fact that the average person in canada seems to have the misguided idea that peace keeping is all we train for. If we had a government with some balls we would be out there with our allies in Iraq right now.

I think it took more balls not to go in Iraq than to just follow the americans and their foreign politics.

Interesting question.

Obviously MG34 has quite a vehement response, much like mine would have been if he hadn't beaten me to the punch.

My calm/cool/collected response (since MG34 already took the fun response) would be as such:

What exactly do you believe the role of the Canadian Army to be?

Ref the automatic grenade launchers (Company Area Suppression Weapon - CASW)...

Yes... they are on the way, and I have been told from an EME friend that the project is being fast tracked and that they will be quite a good piece of kit (then again, I will wait for the people who use them to be the judge of that before I believe it).  CASW is one of the two parts of the $348 million Battle Group Indirect Fire System (Integral) project.  I think that the contract will be awarded in Sept... anyone else heard anything?

They are not sure how they will be issued yet, but there is talk of 1 per mech inf  platoon.  There is also some talk that the Light Inf Bn's will be adding a DFS Platoon to the Combat Support Coy.  Not to be confused with the DFS Bn...  This pl would have 8 CASW's mounted on 8 LUVWs for support (along with some other stuff).  We will see... nothing is firm yet, and i have not heard about who else, or how many we are getting.

As an aside does anyone know (without violating PWGSC / TB contracting guidelines) what systems are in the runnings for contract?  There was some talk of the Striker automatic grenade launcher (sold in Europe as the CG-40 AGL) that is being developed (has been developed?) by General Dynamics Land Systems in conjunction with Bofors/Carl Gustav (the people doing the ammo) and Computing Devices Canada (the people doing the high speed fire control system).  If it is this system we will be cutting edge with respect to AGLs.  This is the first AGL system with programmable ammunition (correct me if I am wrong).

I would also be interested in anyone else knows about the other part of the Battle Group Indirect Fire System (Integral) project - the Battalion Level Indirect Fire System (BLIFS)?  Which way is the CF going with this?

Cheers,

MC
