Not sure if this is the right spot to post but...i‘m looking to find info on where my great great grandfather, Alfred Elgin Read, was posted in World War 1. I have his attestion papers saying that he enlisted in Renfrew, ON on Nov 27, 1916. The papers say, 1st Depot Battalion, 1st C.O.R., 42nd Regt, 240th Overseas Battalion C.E.F. Any help on where to find info would be greatly appreciated.

Names: READ , ALFRED ELGIN
Regimental number: 1042456
Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 8153 - 16

For more information on him from the National Archives of Canada, click here .

You can also order copies of his attestation papers and service record from the National Archives of Canada, just click on the links on that page.
