LPC leadership race - 2025

This is starting to sound like the US Democratic party.
If only his steadfast new liberal party member supporters had donated a bit more to get to what he was required to have.

I guess the call for 250k members didn’t work…

That being said, I agree that it will be interesting to see what the official reason is. Given what I saw when he launched I’m pretty sure the answer is quite simple.

Fight! Fight! Fight!

"Want Carney to win" or "Someone can't pay the $50K first installment of the leadership requirement and is making excuses"? I know which one I suspect.
Occam's Razor and all that usually being the case, I'd put my money (no pun intended) on the money excuse.

Mind you, given the info-vacuum out there, some cynics may bring up stuff like this from here:

Carney isn't an experienced political campaigner, so it would be reasonable to assume he follows advice from his primary campaign staff. It would be reasonable to expect campaign staff to stick to whatever playbooks they've successfully followed in the past. Overall it would be reasonable to project their past onto Carney's future.

Not much more to be seen yet via CBC (I guessed wrong about the money, it seems)...
... Under Section 4(c)iii of the Liberal Party's national leadership rules, a panel of party officials who vet contenders can find a candidate has not satisfied "mandatory criteria" or "a prospective candidate is manifestly unfit for the office of Leader of the Party."

The party must advise the candidate of their reasons for disqualification and weigh the candidate's response in making a final judgment on eligibility.

CBC News has reached out to Arya's campaign and asked if he has received any official reasons for his disqualification.

Arya was one of seven leadership hopefuls who reported they submitted their nomination packages by the Liberal Party's deadline of 5 p.m. ET on Thursday and met the first financial hurdle to enter the race.

(...)

After the deadline passed on Thursday, party spokesperson Parker Lund told CBC News the party will approve candidates "within 10 days." Elections Canada will also need to approve them, he said, which could take several days.

Lund said the party will only confirm official candidates once they have been fully approved ...
... and this snippet from CP
... Liberal party spokesman Parker Lund confirmed Arya would not be a candidate, citing a section of the national leadership rules that state a prospective candidate can be disqualified if they are found to be "manifestly unfit for the office" of leader.

That could be "due to public statements, past improper conduct, a lack of commitment to democracy, or other reputational or legal jeopardy," the rules say.

Lund did not say what specifically led to Arya being removed from the race ...

Turning out to be the open and transparent leadership race from the most open and transparent government ever that Canadians expected and Liberals deserve.
Well, a lot of folks have been saying that parties should be able to knock people out of nominations for "reasons we can't say", and here we are ....
