Ireland drops Multi-Role Vessel plan in favour of a combat ship – Type 31 frigate an option? - Navy Lookout
Ireland’s long-planned acquisition of a €300 million Multi-Role Vessel (MRV) has stalled as the Naval Service reportedly pushes for a more combat-capable design. The shift signals a move away from a humanitarian-aid-focused platform towards what is now called a Multi-Role Combat Vessel (MRCV)...

The Irish may be getting in the game with an actual combat vessel rather than an OPV or a logistically oriented MRV. They are now looking for a MRCV which opens the door to the type 31, which seems to becoming popular in Europe, and potentially something closer to the original Absalon concept with its RoRo flex deck.
