Medical Numbers?

I just wanted to know what the letters and numbers mean in regards to my medical evaluation.

V3, CV1, H1, G2, O2, A5.......what do these mean?

V3 is your vision category

CV1 is your colour vision ( 1 meaning you see colours just fine)

H1 is your hearing ( 1 meaning your can hear just fine)

G2 is geographical factor ( one of the medics can tell you more about that one)

O2 is the occupational factor ( again medics will tell you more)

A5 is your air factor ( 5 meaning that you are fit to be a passenger on CF aircraft)

Thanks for the quick response, but can anyone elaborate on the geographical and occupational numbers?  Also, how come there is no reference to fitness level?  I thought CV was going to stand for cardiovascular.

Physical fitness levels are a separate evaluation thats is not done by the CF medical system.

The G and O factors determine where you are allowed to work and how well you can function in your job.  A G1 O1 is restricted to astronauts  - they are ready to do anything anywhere, literally.  The norm is G2O2.  That says you can go anywhere on earth and have no problems doing your assigned job.  Hope that helps.

The Medical Employment Limitations (MEL) based on a soldier physical/mental condition are equally important as the numbers.  There has been some contemplation with in CF Health Services of doing away with the numerical portion of the factor.  Then you would have G MEL, O MEL.  The MELs are defendable before the Cdn Human Rights Tribunals whereas the G and O numerical factors within MOS/MOC are not always based on Bona Fide Occupational Requirements.  This led to the Universal Tasks Statements etc.

Thanks for the feedback...it all makes sense now.  And now to sound really annoying...while I was perusing DND and Canadian Forces websites, I came across the JTF2 recruiting stuff.  It's minimum medical requirements are 3,1,1,2,2,5.  How come they allow people with V3 vision to apply?  I have V3 and figured I was out because I think my vision is pretty poor...at least not up to special forces standards.  Is this this requirement the same with jump companies, pathfinders, etc.  Kind of weird in my opinion.

V3 is the minimum vision requirement for any combat arms trade - therefore the same for JTF2.  It is also the minimum for military parachutist.
