HI,

I had my medical interview and phone interview done 7 months back. Then they asked me fill DND 2780 as I am 40 years old. I got it filled and sent 15 days afterwards. I got confirmation from CAF that they have received the form. But afterwards I have not seen any movement in my application status. The status is still showing as "Ready for Medical/Interview". I am perfectly healthy and do not have any medical problems. All my parameters are perfect. Has anyone faced this much delay as well.

I would say 7 months is long enough that it is worth it to visit your CFRC and ask them for an update. Maybe they need something else but they didn't tell you.

That happens sometimes

Don't rely on your online profile status. All my tests were done (Physical, Medical, Interview) and i'm waiting for Ottawa currently, and my online displays still my profile as ''Prospect'' and at the very first stage of the process lol.

Keep pushing your CFRC to get updates. Call them every two weeks and ask questions if any other document is required or missing, because 7 months is a long time without getting any updates.

I did my medical on Dec. 12th and still waiting after Ottawa to see if i'm medicaly fit. This waiting time is ridiculous considering some people have been considered medicaly fit well inside 2 weeks.

Did you have any extra forms that needed filling in by family doc or specialists? Those are often the rate limiting step. As I've mentioned previously many moons ago, there are 3 piles of files that go to the Recruit Medical Office - Recommend Immediate Enrollment, Need Further Information, and what I call the "No Freakin Way File" or Not Recommended for Enrollment. The "Need Further Info" pile is the deepest, and with a lot of those files, they not only need going through, but letters done up explaining what else may be needed or reasons for declined enrollment. There are also limited folks reviewing those files, which further adds to the delay. The folks with Recommend Immediate often get sorted through quickest - they're the easiest to deal with, as are the "NFW" ones.

I've heard that (allegedly) more folks have been hired, but that's a relative thing - hiring only one or two folks wouldn't put nearly the same dent in things as hiring a slew of folks. Sorry to hear you've been waiting so long.

Many thanks for your input on this, I appreciate your time. Let's hope that letter comes in quick as i've been told they need extra informations since Feb 8th, and still waiting.

I just got a DND 2766 form by mail to be filled by my family physician.

I just can't understand why they can't put that form directly to be filled when you check out the ''Asthma'' section in your initial medical form. I mean, yes you need to have your physician having to approve your FORCE test evaluation; why not throw in everything asthma related to be filled at the same time ?

It's honestly not only time-wasting in terms of missing out on work and school time, but also money-wasting having to pay each time for a form to be filled by a physician.

Not asthma related, but. When I did my medical, I received on the spot like 3 forms (psych and 2 for physicians) to fill out. My file only got sent for approval after I filled them alongside with all aircrew labs. I find it odd they would send it to Ottawa knowing they require more information :/ Hope the process goes faster for you from now on

What happens when they take the medical folks (Docs/PA's) out of the CFRC's...as for the asthma thing, took my kid almost 7 years of asshattery dealing with the RMO due to "asthma" that was never really diagnosed, just got a puffer periodically if he got a cold (could well be mild asthma), however he did 2 or 3 irritant challenges and passed them, respiratory medicine confirmed, and three times the RMO send a "So sorry letter back"...to which I helped him craft one that basically threatened them with a ministerial inquiry since they apparently thought they knew more than the lung doc did...he's now a Strat.

7 years is a long time to get enrolled. I only have small asthma when my cat allergies kicks in and when I have lung infections like bronchitis which is very not often. I train 5 times a week and never use my puffer.

I just hope that this form will be the last, considering i'm only going MSE Op and not in a combat arms trade which is more physical.

Happy that your kid got in; it takes a lot of perseverance. Props to him.

Some people think it's about the physicality, when it's about exposures to things that can cause you not to breathe well, even though ashtma can be triggered by exercise. Being a trucker exposes you to fuel, exhaust, still have to work in cold, +/- moving loads +/- doing army stuff in a field environment...and staying fit of course. Irony with my kid is that he's spent more time driving a truck than a tank or TAPV, being a Sqn ammo dude.

Yeah I understand all of that you've mentionned. Ive been armoured 4 years of my life with a 7 months deployment and never had any issues with my asthma back in the days. I guess it's a big deal 20 years later 😅

I also train 5 times a week and the funny thing is, asthma tends to diminish with physical training on the long-term.

Hello! I'm new here. My 17 y.o. son applied for Reserves and now he was told he was medically unfit to join the military. His doctor prescribed with a puffer for a cough that lasted for 2 weeks a year ago. The doctor filled out the Asthma form saying it was prescribed to treat the cough but not asthma related. Has anyone else here gotten a similar rejection and how did you appeal it? Thanks in advance!

You would need to have the doc write a formal letter (likely at further cost unfortunately) to reiterate that it was for a brief illness and has never in fact had any issues with asthma like symptoms before or since, as well as have your son (not you) send in an appeal letter with it. Problem is sometimes the blinders go on, they assume it is asthma triggered by viral symptoms (a real issue). They may double down and ask for respiratory medicine referral for an irritant challenge to prove without a doubt they do not have asthma. Went through this with my eldest...it got to the point that, with 3 negative irritant challenges, they were still saying no, that I suggested he politely word a letter saying what I was going to bluntly suggest that (a) the general duty medical officer actually read and acknowledge the respiratory medicine opinions and if they chose not to, (b) they would be getting a WTF letter from the Minister +/- the Surgeon General (friend of a friend) and the Chief of the Defence Staff (ex-boss). It should not get that far with your boy if all is actually as you state...they sometimes need more information and prodding.
