So, throughout the last hundred years, Canada has produced some great War Art and ‘Military‘ artists. The Canadian War Museum contains many works of War Art, from World War I through to present day. Group of Seven artists have contributed to this collection as have dozens of lesser known artists. Unit Collections and Kitshops also contribute to the artistic portraits of the Armed Forces with works commissioned by artists like Catherine Taylor and Joanne Crombie. Who are some of our best Military Artists today?

I think some are being put on display in the National Art Gallery and will have space for display in the new War Museum.

How about the former CO of the RCH in Montreal who did all those cartoons on RV ‘81 and RV ‘85?

On a recent trip to Parliment I lucked out and got a tour of the Senate. They actually rotate new paintings from the CWM into the Senate and put on display.

Had no idea.

George. The former CO of the RCH did not do the cartoons for RV85, only RV81 and 83. That‘s why there was no book published by Canex after RV85. They were done by a Sgt in the RNFLDR. :D

Trust me I have all the originals of the cartoons for RV85 aside from the carictures of Belzile and DeChastelaine which they were presented with (autographed).

Correct. A typo on my part. One of his cartoons is still in my top ten, but it was done back in ‘77-‘78 when Canada was just getting the Leopard 1s. It was the one of the RCD troopers painting over the German Maltese Cross and captioned "Honest Sergeant Major, It followed us home."

Be specific man. There are prints on sale at the War Museum, through the Museum of Civilization. There are prints on sale at Unit Kitshops. You can find them in Art Stores. What prints are you looking for?
