It‘s very good for all trade‘s to recognise mine‘s,as it make our job easier when you call us.

NOTE!! DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY OF THE RENDER SAFE
PROCEDURES UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN
TRAINED!!!!!!!

There was a girl at school today who was working with the CF on designing better demining techniques. It was interesting to hear and see her little both (open house at the University) and see all the kit issued and the ways mines are disarmed.

Still, mines are stupid.

Mines are great. Just sucks when they are left all about unaccounted for.

I think if i sit through one more mine awareness class i‘ll die though.

If you don‘t you might die as well :skull: Take them seriously, once you see children missing limbs, your sense of ha ha goes out the window.

That‘s exactly why I think mines are stupid. Kudos to Unle Jean for getting rid of them in Canada.
Austria, Belgium, China, Cuba, Czechoslov, France, Germany East, Germany West, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Korea Pakistan, Portugal, Romania, the Former Soviet Union, South Africa, Spain, Sweedan, Thailand, the UK, the US, Vietnam, Former Yugoslavia, and Zimbabwe can go around maiming innocent people; It‘s good to know we won‘t.

Mines are a highly effective defensive weapon. They force the enemy to move in the direction that you want them to. They create ‘traffic jams‘, stops, and the uncertainty of safe travel. They have a devasting effect on the morale of the enemy force.

However, they do create massive amounts of ‘collateral damage‘. I feel the effectiveness of a defense should take in the acount of noncombatants. How to do this.

The Geneva conventions and the Laws of Armed Conflict (Rules of War) should include a subsection to include the use of mines in a theather of war or conflict.

Have mine fields CLEARLY marked, on the ground around the mine field. Those that do not would be charge with a warcrime to commit crimes against civilians.

The laws should include that each mine should contain a minium amount of matalic material. Each mine should be no large then a particular size, each mine should be remote detonated in line of sight, .... etc..etc.

To not allow all mines IS detamental to the protection of the men of all Militaries.

Clamores is another perfectly effective ambush/ defensive weapon that has been disallowed now.

Some of my thoughts on this...

Claymores are still allowed.
You just can‘t set them up as mines. It must be control detonated.
