Hi

My current application for ROTP has been Merit Listed

I have a couple subjects that are not the greatest marks, but above the minimum
I have a part time job, great volunteer hours within my community (coaching, reffing etc.)
I have excellent sports background - Varsity and Rep for my community
I am due to graduate Grade 12 in June. (French Immersion)

Does anyone have any suggestions of courses I could take to improve my changes or something else ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Volunteer experience, sports teams, second language training - I would say that you've already shown them that you're a good candidate. I'd say keep doing what you're doing, work hard to finish with strong marks. Maybe find out if there's an opportunity with your job or team for more responsibility - helping with administration, training new employees, or learning to work with another department/employee.

For example, while I was in high school/university, I worked in retail at a supermarket. By the time I left, I was getting shifts in three separate departments, and was offered an assistant department manager position. I learned how to use the inventory/ordering system, I got supervisory experience watching the self-scan checkouts, and I was regularly placed with new employees as a mentor.

I have since on occasion visited both of the stores I worked at, and it's bittersweet to see some of the same people at the same jobs, some of them for 10+ years. There is always opportunity for learning and advancement - it's the ambition and capacity to see that opportunity that the CF is looking for.

Thanks.

My job doesn't leave me much room to expand on, arena maintenance staff. Limited duties to expand at the part time level.
I do tons of volunteer work for my community lacrosse as well as playing in the summer. From coaching to Admin stuff.
Wondering if taking any online college courses may help me ?

If you've already been merit listed, I don't think there is anything you can do to up your score.  I could be wrong though.
Also from what I've heard the board is sitting sometime in the middle of this month, which is almost here.

From my limited experience at an arena, I know that they are sometimes looking for people to work on game promotion nights, run the time clock, or help the scorer. Might be worth asking anyway - not sure if this would be a large area arena or strictly minor rec but worth a shot. I managed a beer league team for a while and got drafted to run the clock a few times when there was no one else around.

I already do lots of extra's at the arena, tournaments, skills camps for younger players, assisting coaches with younger teams.
If it's the middle of this month I guess I will have to wait it out and see. If I'm not successful this time I will look into some college courses I guess.

Thanks for the input.

This is all good material to bring up at an interview.
