Need advice on my military career

Hi everyone
Currently I'm 18 years old and planning on joining the CF reserves.
My civilian goal is to finish medicine. I'm thinking of becoming some kind of medical officer in the CF reserves.
When could I apply to become an officer? After my undergraduate studies or after finishing medicine?
In the second case, as it will still take a long time, can I enlist as non-officer and then switch to that medical officer?
Also how hard is it to enlist as enlisted or officer? I heard that there are many people applying for one job...
Any other suggestions or advice is welcome

To be a medical officer in the reserves you need to already have a medical degree.  You could join the reserves as a NCM or non-medical officer while you are working on your pre-medicine and medical degree and once you finish you could transfer to the reserve medical services.

Another option if you are willing to serve full-time is that you can apply for the Military Medical Training Program (MMTP).  You join the reserves as a NCM or non-medical officer while you are completing your pre-medicine degree and then you apply for MMTP and once accepted by the selection board you must then get accepted into medical school.  You then go to medical school and once you graduate in family medicine you work as a full-time family doctor for a number of years.

You can be high as Captain and keep your rank.  Anything above Captain you lose upon transfer.
