I would just like to know how to find any info about the 102nd Bn. from WW1.  I've already read "Canadian Expeditionary Force:1914-1919"  by Colonel G.W.L Nicholson, C.D.,Army Historical Section.  I want to know more details involved with the Battalion.  I'm trying to find out which company and platoon my Great-Uncle was in, and any other kind of info.  He died at Vimy Ridge on April 9, 1917.  So please, if anyone knows how to find that info, let me know.  And I already have a copy of his Attestation papers from Library & Archives. Thanks.

Try the online War Diary, found at the database intro page here:

Pages for the "102nd Canadian Infantry Battalion" can be found here (TinyURL created): http://tinyurl.com/7twwh

Have fun, it doesn't look like that battalion had a typewriter.  :)

You can also order his complete service file, instructions are here:

Further to the that, don't give up. You may, or will, come across clues the longer you look. This sort of thing may take a long time, or you may get lucky. If the family has any letters, check them for names, places and dates. If his commanding officer wrote, that may provide a clue that pays off.

Good luck

The regimental history is on line.
