Kev I was taking some training on BF for Ex Maple Guardian a few weeks ago and the instructors told us that we had been offered BFT but sadly were opting to stay with SAS. That being said I understand that there is still some major use of American systems/software in Kandahar right now, I just wonder if it will last when we start to take a larger control role in that area? I would have to agree that BFT is a better and certainly more user friendly system.
No Idea - I am no longer in the CF -- The entity I work for is tied in with Blue Force tracker.
I used SAS when it first came out to the CF - I have no doubt that it will eventually be improved upon - however I do not feel that due to the design constraints it will measure up to BFT.
BFT is superb, I used it on several occasions to coordinate between units that I normally wouldnt have freq's for. Much easier to prevent Blue on Blue.
