New Prospective CF soldier

Hello everyone,

I am thinking about applying and joining the Canadian Forces. I have check their website and cruised through their job listings, opportunities, etc

It sounds really good. The reason I am posting here is I wanted to get a some feedback from existing members in the CF who are willing to share their experience with me and if its worth joining the CF ( no offence intended there). One more question. Can you be part of the CF and still not travel outside your current city?

Some people enjoy it and will make a career out of it.  Others enjoy it, but will only do 1-2 contracts; some dislike it and will only do their initial contract or request a VR prior to contract ending.

Can you be part of the CF and still not travel outside your current city?

Can you clarify what you mean by this?  Regardless if you are Reg Force or Reserve expect to do some travelling outside of where you live for exercises and/or courses.

I meant saying, would I be travelling outside Calgary if I lived there or outside Canada? because I dislike travelling and I don't want to be away from home basically.

You might as well not bother joining then, because everyone in the CF is expected to go where they are told when they are ordered to, even in the reserves.

As a reservist in Calgary, I can tell you that you will be going places around both the province and country.  If you dont like to travel then this ain't the job your looking for.
