The top "replaceable" part of the new hat is so flimsy and feels cheap.

Good luck to members with a bigger forehead wearing these. That'll give rise to the centre of the cap.

The original men's peak cap was better.

I find the "new" caps extremely comfortable, and breathable in warm weather.

My only experience with the old ones was brief, and very uncomfortable.

When I look at pictures of sailors and officers wearing the old cap I get a chuckle because of how small the old ones were. These ones are significantly more comfortable and better looking.

Only the Officers and POs though so clearly there was a error in the model by time it got to us…

Yup, like posh dictators.

I find them okay, but do think the giant, flat brim looks very soviet and fee the urge to join a proletariat uprising, and also very top heavy so even though it's on tight it flops around and off fairly easily, so takes the jaunty tilt off the table.

I found the old hat much more comfortable as soon as you took out the packing ring, the new ones stay too circular for my taste, and there is no way to form the plastic ring the topper goes on, but at the end of the day my opinion on the hat and $4 will get you a cut of coffee, so whatever.
I think it is yet another functional uniform piece that was changed for the sake of change (like the executive curl) and not any functional reason, which is generally annoying knowing how much more important work doesn't get done due to lack of people and resources.
