New to Board--Question about Support Trades

Hello Everyone:

I am new to this board and I have been searching now for quite some time......so please be patient with me if I am asking questions that you've answered before! 

My story is that my husband is a Comm Researcher and we are in Kingston while he gets his security clearance.  I have been thinking about joining the military as a support trade (RMS, Supply or Cook) because I want to be able to get posted to the same bases as him in the future.  My questions are 1) should I apply now while we are in Kingston or should I wait until he gets his clearance and we go to Ottawa, or does that matter?  2) How many positions are needed to be filled in the RMS, Supply and Cook trades?

      You might consider going into a tech trade because where there are Com Research there has to be techs. I was a tech and served over 17 years out of 30 with the SRS trade.

It doesn't matter where you apply but if you are going to be in Kingston for some time then start it there.  There are no positions assigned to those trades until the new fiscal year but we are selecting for them to fill the BMQs for this FY so you may want to apply soon.  Remember while joining a purple trade will improve your chances of being posted together there is no absolute guarantee as service needs override all and purple trades can serve in all three elements.  Good Luck.

Thank you Old F of S and Kincanucks for you information/answers!    Old F of S, I hadn't thought of looking at Tech trades but now I am going to do some research on those careers as well.  Are there any Tech trades that get posted to Ottawa?  Kincanucks, are there any Tech trades that are looking for recruits which would work well with my husbands trade (291)?  Thanks again for your help!

  All techs can be posyed to Ottawa, Leitrim is a prime spot for a young tech the experience they get there is invaluable.
