Ottawa played an undisciplined game tonight and it cost them.

Game was very dirty. To many hits from behind and high crosschecks to the head.

I love rough hockey but that was getting out of hand.

That TO crowd was fired up. Nice to see Battle of Ontario still holds after all these years off.

Calls went heavily in favor of the Leafs.
I’m fine with calling penalties, but call them equally.

Oh don’t get me wrong I don’t think Ottawa played well, but some of the calls were very one sided.

I don’t disagree but a shove from behind isn’t the same as a full on cross check. Nor is it a cross check if a player elbows you in the face and you try to use your stick to block it when the stick is right at your own face.

I love rough hockey but that was getting out of hand.

Rough and dirty are two different things.

They should have been, they were clearly getting their monies worth from the officials.

I’m fine with calling penalties, but call them equally.

Stutzle / Greig / Gaudette were all legitimate calls ( though Gaudette should have been for boarding) and stupid undisciplined plays- Greig there's a strong argument that they should have upheld the 5, that's a suspension in the regular season.


The Nylander hook / Batherson trip were both battles that could have been let go IMO.

Batherson crosscheck was objectively a penalty, but it's one that gets let go several times per game in the playoffs, I get complaining about that.

If the 3 at the top of the 2nd were all ticky tacky and similar to Batherson's trip it would be one thing. The Sens would be "owed" some even up calls. But the first three were dangerous and dirty, plays like that stand outside of the general "balance"

Well compare and contrast the Caps/Habs game Ref’ing. Pretty crazy difference even with only 6:20 into the first period.
Repeated cross checks to the face - no penalty.

The slashing penalty against the Caps @9:39 was probably the least egregious play.

Habs v Caps game was more exciting.
Caps 3 Canadiens 2 in OT.
Ovi got his first playoff OT Goal to win.

I still say Officiating was awful.

Either way, my bracket is looking good so far this weekend.

If the Habs took the Caps to OT in game one, this is going to be a tough series for the Caps. The Caps may win the series, but the Canadiens are going make them work for it.
