I have to imagine this question has been asked before, but I have searched the checked the FAQs and can't find a thing.  If someone can post a link I'd be grateful.

Got a call from the CFRC today stating that I did not qualify for my first selection due to my performance on the CFAT.  :-\  I'm told no one caught it until now.  So, I can write it again or let it all ride on Infantry Officer. (My 2nd choice.)

Understanding that my merit ranking will depend on everyone else's scoring as well, I'd like to have an idea of what the raw numbers look like before I make a decision.

I am told there are 60 DEO infantry positions available for fiscal year 05/06 ..So how many applicants can I expect?

Any help is appreciated.  :)

So your first choice was AEC?  Typically we will see about 2-3 processed files per position going to the boards.

Thx Kincanuks.  That helps fill out the picture.

If I have a 1 in 2 or 3 chance of being accepted for INF I might be tempted toward optimism.  The rest of my application is pretty good (if I do say so myself).

Yes, my first choice was AEC.  The Lt.(N) that I spoke with mentioned that AEC isn't a popular application choice  :o  and that INF applications are rather more frequent.  He also mentioned that there are 30 AEC positions available through FY 05/06.  So  if I were to meet the requirements on the CFAT for AEC on my second go, I should have a statistically better better chance of being offered a job.

On the other hand, I have ONE chance to rewrite the test and the second test is the one that follows me for life.  If I do worse and preclude an application for INF ..well that's curtains.  (Although he did say that I was well above the score required for an officer application.)

The decision wouldn't be so difficult except that I had hard time deciding which to put down as my first choice on my application.

lol!  Lots to think about!  Any advice or anything you can add would be appreciated.  Thanks for the help.  :salute:

If you are a suitable candidate you should get offered a position for infantry officer.  They did not fill up all the slots from the last fiscal year for infantry officer.  I know this because I was offered a position before year end (Mar 31) because they had left over spots to fill for that occupation.  Anyways goodluck!
