Un homme a été pris en charge aux urgences d'un hôpital du sud de la France pour un obus logé dans le rectum, a-t-on appris dimanche d'une source interne à l'établissement de santé où une équipe de déminage est intervenue.

«Ils (les membres de l'équipe médicale, ndlr) ont découvert ça et ils ont appelé le déminage», a indiqué à l'AFP un salarié de l'hôpital, sous couvert d'anonymat.

Selon le quotidien La Dépêche du Midi, qui a révélé l'information, un homme de 24 ans s'est présenté dans la nuit de samedi à dimanche à l'hôpital Rangueil, à Toulouse, expliquant s'être introduit un objet dans le rectum.

Dans la salle d'opération, selon le quotidien régional, l'équipe médicale s'est retrouvée à devoir extraire un «obus de collection de près de 20 centimètres».

Inquiète d'un potentiel risque d'explosion, elle a alors fait appel à une équipe de déminage.

Les pompiers ont été «dépêchés à la demande des forces de l'ordre afin d'assurer une protection incendie lors de l'intervention des démineurs», a indiqué le Service départemental d'incendie et de secours dans un communiqué, affirmant, sans autre précision, qu'un «engin explosif a été neutralisé dans le sas des urgences».

La direction du Centre hospitalier universitaire de Toulouse s'est refusée à commenter cette information.

A man was treated in the emergency room of a hospital in the south of France for a shell lodged in the rectum, an internal source at the health facility where a bomb disposal team intervened on Sunday.

"They (members of the medical team) found out about it and they called for mine clearance," a hospital employee told AFP on condition of anonymity.

According to the daily La Dépêche du Midi, which revealed the information, a 24-year-old man presented himself on the night of Saturday to Sunday at the Rangueil hospital in Toulouse, explaining that he had inserted an object into his rectum.

In the operating room, according to the regional daily, the medical team found themselves having to extract a "collector's shell of nearly 20 centimeters."

Worried about a potential risk of explosion, she called in a bomb disposal team.

The firefighters were "dispatched at the request of the police to ensure fire protection during the intervention of the deminers," the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service said in a statement, stating, without further details, that an "explosive device was neutralized in the emergency airlock."

The management of the Toulouse University Hospital refused to comment on this information.
