Major Humphrey Lloyd-Jones spent much of his life in Hay-on-Wye. During World War II he was mentioned in despatches twice and was awarded the Military Cross. In the second part of his memories of the major, Grafton Maggs from Mumbles, recounts how the major used the Welsh language to foil the Nazis.

Obviously fiction, as there is no Welsh langauge, merely ungainly collections of consonants strung together in incomprehensible groupings, muttered by roving gangs of colliers who periodically threaten to burst out in eight-part harmonies.

Sounds like half my teachers in high school - often the only intelligible english word we'd get from them was "rugby" then off again into something else.
