Hello all,

I'm new here, so unsure if this is the correct place to post, but here goes.

I'm coming on my sixth year in the army (reg force), and have recently gotten a diagnosis for sleepwalking from outside the military. Does anyone have any information as to whether this would be grounds for release? In my opinion it makes me undeployable, but I'm not too sure about "officially".

Thanks in advance!

1- Why didn't you go through the military medical system in the first place?

2- Why don't you ask your question to your doc?

Question 3: how did you even get medical coverage outside of the CF for this?

Anyhow, to answer your question - go see your Medical Officer. At some point the bills for your care that you received outside the military are going to need to be paid by the military. This will cause people to ask questions. Questions that you probably don't want to have to answer.

What do you mean by "from outside the military"?  However, regardless of the circumstance that you are seeing a civilian physician, if you have a medical problem then you are required by QR&Os to immediately report it to military medical authorities.

I’m going to err on the side of benefit-of-the-doubt and hope that the member means they were referred to a civilian doctor/specialist for a condition that they originally went to the MIR for and THAT Dr. diagnosed the issue? Maybe I’m reaching, but like I said, just trying to give the OP the benefit of the doubt before they get trounced-on more...In which case, mijoco, the results will make their way to your Dr at the MIR. Possible/suitable treatment (if any available) will be discussed before actions, such as being released, are thrown on the table.
