Amazing speech and a brilliant point of extreme importance. I can see the allure.

Carney is pretty much done now and should throw in the towel for the good of the country.

If you work long enough in the area of helping NR sector regulators redesign their approval processes to make them faster and more effective you'll encounter an amazing range of 'variables' that can stop the clock, whether or not they're transparent or justifiable ;)

Exactly.

The Liberal Party does not want a liberal economy, a free market economy. They want a controlled economy, a dirigiste economy, a Colbertiste economy.

They want a thicket of laws that prevent free movement. They want to decide who goes through the thicket and when and where it happens.

They are neither democrats nor liberals. They aspire to be Real Democrats and Real Liberals...qualified democrats and liberals.

Liberalism and democracy sell, but they are bad for the people.

Burning expensive diesel to protest diesel prices, and clogging up traffic for everyone. No government body dictates hauling rates in Canada, it's the free market.

All this is going to do is get the opposite of sympathy from everyone, who are also dealing with those same prices directly and indirectly too.

Actual truckers need to move loads to get paid. They can also charge higher rates to cover their costs if they wish to.

I’m not worried about some sustained protest of actual working truck drivers in any significant numbers. There may be a brief symbolic thing, but the costs will simply get passed on to the consumer.

Realistically the only thing that's going to solve this is ending the war be it via a win, lose, or drop everything and go home.

An export ban on diesel wouldn't solve anything, the companies would just import less crude and thus refine a whole lot less. The US government has no way to force them to continue refining at current levels after a ban.

That would require the "N" word, nationalization.

And that is absolutely not going to happen especially with a Republican government lmao.

If they want sympathy from this four-wheeler , they could support safety.

Something like Dalilah’s Law here in Canada .

From my understanding, it's not a level playing field and lot of TFW were brought in to drive trucks, bringing the price the haulage companies were willing to pay drivers way down.

Forcing companies to hire people already here and properly trained will help solve that.

Canpotex looking to expand exports East, big time.

Not sure they are replacing or Parallelring their existing coal loading facility?

Also a ton of shell games being played were drivers are hired but instead of being paid as employees they are listed as contractors...

So few benefits paid, different overtime, and can go different (i.e. cheaper) wages.

There's a reason truck driving, especially long haul driving, has been singled out due to "wage theft" https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/lond...major-problems-in-trucking-industry-9.7082127

Which is frankly amazing to me when I hear of the stories in other sectors like restaurant cooks etc.

To put this back on subject though there is also a huge age demographic split in the trucking industry...worse than I think the "trades" as a whole which is affecting projects. Was talking to a logging foreman last year....the youngest driver they had was 64. But they also couldn't afford the insurance hit of training new drivers so the entire fleet was trying to work as long as possible and then most likely everyone retires/auction the gear off.
