Platoon Signaler

In an infantry platoon would the signaler/radio operator be assigned to the platoon from a sigs unit or would regular infantryman be appointed to the position?

The platoon would normally have an infanteer lugging around the radio........

Each platoon would have a designated infantryman signaller(hopefully qualified!)
The OC would have his own infantryman signal. And the Company would have a Sig Op attatched from the battalion sigs platoon.

At platoon level it is usually the most level headed Cpl. chosen by the cmndr to be the platoon sigs pig, yes?

The platoon 2ic will pick somebody(pte/cpl) qualified to do the job. Some see it as a good job, others don‘t. It‘s all in how you look at it...
