Police Folk Allegedly Behaving Badly

Pathetic.

He already has a court date and there’s no indication he’ll fail to attend. A purely theatrical perp walk is exactly the kind of political weaponization of the justice system that the current administration pretends to object to.
I'll admit, I didn't really see this issue the same way until I saw/read about this.

Agreed 100%. Pathetic.

I’ll put this here.

Never ever in the history of the FBI has a person so unqualified, crass and corrupt as this man been in charge of a once venerated office.

The back story here is that FBI agents were dismissed because they did not publicly perp walk and shame former FBI Director Comey.
I don't know...

The last several FBI Directors have ended up being less than impressive, and have been sucked into the partisan political nonsense regardless of which party has been in power.

The FBI does some great work, and I imagine most of their rank & file are competent and good officers.

Edmonton police & FBI coordinated extremely well together when a local Edmonton teen was kidnapped & taken across the border a few years ago. M
ultiple sections of the FBI were on top of that, and rescued the poor kid pretty swiftly.

But then the FBI goes and does something like Ruby Ridge...and it's like... 🤷‍♂️

I was really disappointed when I saw that. Not only the position he took, but how he did it. Yelling over the counter is anything but professional and deescalating.
Was quite concerning to watch that.

There’s a certain level of mental exhaustion and a variety of fatigue settling in with police across the country. Not an excuse, but it’s harder than ever for those lads to do their job. In this case the constable wasn’t really doing his job well, at all.

B.C. RCMP officer ordered to resign after driving drunk, pointing handgun at civilians

An RCMP officer who was posted to Williams Lake, B.C., has been ordered to resign from the force after a conduct board hearing found he had operated a motor vehicle while intoxicated and pointed a handgun at two members of the public.

The discreditable conduct occurred in the early morning hours of July 1, 2022, while Const. Olavo Castro was on extended medical leave, according to the conduct board decision in the case.

Conduct board member Kevin L. Harrison issued the decision on July 22 of this year, but it was not published online until Wednesday.

Wow. That’s definitely a righteous firing.

No. But police services in general - and I have it on good authority including the RCMP - are moving towards more easily suspending officers without pay in more serious cases.

Looks like this guy ate a criminal conviction too. https://canlii.ca/t/k1xt7
Thanks for the read.

I found this part kind of odd.

To Mr. Castro’s credit, it is not suggested that he intended to use the firearm, however, he was careless in how he stored the firearm.
He was drunk and hand a handgun sitting in his lap at the stampede and said "Do we have a problem here?".
That sure seems like he's behaving like he intended to it. Clearly meant as a threat. Meanwhile the judge is acting like it was just randomly sitting there. Crazy.

In a normal world the conviction would likely cost the agent his job, but with ICE and this Administration, who knows.
This was an appeal. He was sentenced to two years’ probation not long after the conviction. No idea about what ICE does in terms of conduct proceedings or if he kept his job.

A familiar book comes to mind ;)

“Comrades!' he cried. 'You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us actually dislike milk and apples. I dislike them myself. Our sole object in taking these things is to preserve our health. Milk and apples (this has been proved by Science, comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the well-being of a pig. We pigs are brainworkers. The whole management and organisation of this farm depend on us. Day and night we are watching over your welfare. It is for your sake that we drink the milk and eat those apples.”
