Yeah he went from filming her with his phone to drawing his weapon and firing in about 1.5 seconds. Shot in the face.

The chief of police does say she was using her vehicle to block ICE vehicles from using the road, which does not warrant that kind of use of force.

From the videos posted here what I see is an ICE officer (stupidly) standing right in front of her vehicle. She accelerates towards him as she's turning the SUV In an attempt to leave after being told to get out of the car at least 3 times. She misses him by less than a foot. A few less degrees on the steering wheel and she would have ran him over.

After hearing her ordered to exit the vehicle 3 times by his fellow ICE men he moved there as a means of psychological detention and offer support.

In the videos it looks and sounds like he fired the first round directly into the front windshield and she accelerated toward him. Including muzzle blast. I think he's safe there (in terms of it being a justified use of force)

There's two shots though so if he fired again from the angle that you posted then yeah he might have a hard time explaining that. Which one was the kill shot will be a key factor.

He’s an idiot. I’ve seen three videos now and they don’t remotely suggest that she had any such intent.

The lies and BS out of Trump, Noem, and others is just going to make this work. Something this happens, shut up, call for calm, pledge a full and transparent investigation, and then do that.

You don’t. Stand. In. Front. Of. Cars. If you find yourself there, you move. Shooting at a driver doesn’t stop a car coming your way; it’s ineffective. He had all the time and space he needed to not be in the dangerous area in front of a vehicle. This is literally why so many agencies including mine specifically train not to be in that space, and have policy against attempting to stop a vehicle by shooting at it.

Will be ultimately be convicted of a crime? I can’t say. Was this utterly avoidable and unnecessary? Absolutely.

“Hey, you should probably go get checked out just to be sure”.

“In hospital” probably means he’s sitting in the waiting room triaged low.

The usual reason is 'ego'.

The vehicle has a license plate. If you stay alive you can remember that and go get them later if required.

If you or the driver are dead or injured, there's usually alot of messy paperwork.

Department of Homeland Decurity has a few different classifications of officers. Some are easier to hire than others. Of late, there has been a lot of low quality hiring for Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, as Enforcement and Removal Operations officers. I’m hearing through police only sources they that’s what this guy was. Maybe he’s new, maybe he just sucks.

My reaction is from the three videos I’ve seen. Formal investigation of this, the potential criminal and definite civil proceedings in court will ultimately reveal much more.
