Police Officers doing good things

I'm with the cops on this one! ;)

Coincidentally, the guy recording the video also blew a stop sign...

Video showing Toronto police tackling cyclist after alleged traffic violation sparks outcry

Toronto police say cyclist blew stop sign, 'shouted a profanity at officers,' attempted to flee

As a pedestrian, I feel like a two - cent poker chip in the finger pointing / blame game traffic war.

Toronto sees 28% jump in traffic fatalities in 2026 compared to last year: police data

See? Beatings work...šŸ˜€

Obey the man in the yellow car.... šŸ˜€

The cyclist appears to have "lawyer-ed up".

Our client has been diagnosed with a head injury/concussion and given a referral to a head injury clinic,ā€ Shellnutt said. ā€œHis concussion symptoms remain ongoing.ā€

The lawyer added that the cyclist’s family took him to the emergency room later that night and accused police of using excessive force and failing to follow basic duty‑of‑care obligations.

I am curious to know if Toronto taxpayers will be on the hook of a lawsuit payout "for an undisclosed amount."

SIU to investigate Toronto police arrest of cyclist that lawyer says left him with concussion

In an email Thursday, SIU spokesperson Kristy Denette said the agency has invoked its mandate in the May 31 incident on Queen’s Quay near Little Norway Park.

ā€˜Game changer’: Victoria police is actively enforcing B.C. Guide and Service Dog laws

According to VicPD, ā€œPublic transportation services are legally obligated to accept patrons with guide and service dogs. They cannot refuse service based on the presence of the dog. It’s important to remember that the animals are trained to help people with a range of disabilities; they are not the same as emotional support animals and have rights to public access.ā€

Some people may , or may not , feel "emotional support animals" also have rights to public access.

We have an emotional support animal discussion,

The problem in Ontario is there is no requirement that service animals be registered/certified or identifiable. As a business or premises owner, you are limited what you can ask the person. Basically, 'is that a service Llama'. If the answer is 'yes', you are pretty much stuck.

It's become pretty common around here to see animals in Home Depot and Canadian Tire. I saw a ferret in HD the other day. I mentioned it to one of the staffers who just sighed as said 'they don't pay me enough to get involved'. On dog trainer regularly uses HD to socialize her students.

If you see an emotional auppoet beaver in the lumber section of HD, you absolutely MUST post photos here.
Beaver? Ferrets? Nah

Metro Police had to get involved with a lady blocking the Dufferin bus.

For yapping?

TTC Policy is Emotional Support Animals travel as regular pets on the TTC.

They are only allowed on board only during specific hours:

Weekdays: Before 6:30 AM, between 10:00 AM and 3:30 PM, and after 7:00 PM.

Weekends & Holidays: All day.

My - guess - is the Operator knew the Policy better than the people making their comments.

BZ to the police for getting traffic moving.

ā€œEmotional support animalsā€ have no recognized legal status in Ontario and the owner is not entitled to any accommodations for same. The bar for ā€œservice animalā€ in Ontario is very low; if they don’t even meet that, well, too bad. Legally that’s nothing more than a pet.

On the flip side, people with actual service animals face considerable barriers still.

Looks like an Emotional Support Animal to me. But , I'm not an SME.

The owner claimed it was " a Service Animal ",

Toronto Transit Commission

BY-LAW No. 1

3.2 Section 3.1 does not apply to prohibit a guide dog or service animal from accompanying any passenger with a disability provided that the guide dog or service animal remains under the control of the passenger at all times while on the transit system.

Maybe buy her dog a little vest ?

I think the police made the right call by getting her off the road.

In Ontario a service animal must either be clearly identifiable as such, like a service animal vest, or the handler must provide documentation from one of a category of medical practitioners. It’s been a few years since I’ve had to look at it closely so I forget which medical professionals specifically qualify.

Understood.

My reference, for this particular situation , was Toronto Transit Commission BY-LAW No. 1 .

Remembering times when our buses looked like rolling menageries during winter apartment fire evacuations. < lol emoji.
