Political impacts of Ukraine war

Orban enters the hostage taking business.

I really don’t understand the Hungarian people’s tolerance for Orban’s Russophilia. I always figured the Hungarians would despise the Russians for what they have done to Hungary in the past. Everyone I have met of Hungarian provenance have been freedom-loving people who disdain the Russians.

The election is in April, and signs of his government falling to the opposition are all over the place.

This event and probably more over the coming month are attempts to leave turds in the bed for the new government to grapple with.

If the next election is done without Russian clandestine assistance I think you will find that the Hungarian people don't really like the position that Orban has put them in. But I fear that he has learnt vote counting from the masters.

no the government, Georgian dream party etc...?
Some indications they're drifting toward Moscow.
"Georgia’s government aligns itself with Russia while most citizens look to Europe" (CBC)
"As democracy in Georgia collapses, Russia, China and Iran see an opening" (CNN)

"The US ought to go slowly and respect stability."

"...to cushion the market shock..."

"Not that way!"

Pretty significant drop in traffic. Shows how heavily the Russians were relying on it.

The Ukrainians can be an extremely cunning & talented people!

Watching a recent video from Cappy Army on YouTube...

Apparently the Ukrainians actively sold Starlink terminals to the Russians (shipping via Kazakhstan) who were desperate for better battlefield communications...then tracked the terminals & attacked when the time was right.

Their idea had the Russians lead them directly to...well, the Russians.

...

This idea helped them retake some ground by successfully locating and attacking Russian positions, but not before cutting the very internet connections they made sure those Russian positions were relying on...

One day they will be teaching the Mossad on how to wage war against your enemies.

A couple of articles that highlight the critical use of drones (both large and small) in the Ukraine War.

The low cost of small drones compared to the cost of the vehicles they are targeting may require some critical thinking on how we choose to go about recapitalizing our military.

Meanwhile larger drones are striking farther and farther behind the front lines to hit strategic targets. These are weapons that are definitely well within the capability of Canadian aerospace companies to build.
