Hey, I hope this isn't a strange question, but I am trying to figure out if some civilian pratices are translateable to this interview. Tomorrow morning I have a telephone interview and I believe, to the best of my knowledge, it is the last item before my file gets sent to the board for the final decision. It is with a professional in my field. To the point of my question, proper practice in the civilian world of interviewing recommends a thank you note or email be sent to your interviewer within 24 hrs of the interview. I have always done this and I have had great feedback from the interviewers about sending the note. Would this be appropriate practice for my board interview or will I look like a giant brown noser? Any recruiters opinions? Any military personnel opinions?

To ME, it would seem like brown-nosing (esp. as a telephone interview) but I'M not an interviewer ... maybe ex-FDO could weigh in here ...

Yeah it really screams brown nosing to me, but unfortunately, it has worked quite well at getting me jobs so far!

I think it depends on the feeling you get from the interview. I have interviewed tons of people (outside of CF of course) and if an interview went okay and the person followed up with an email that seemed genuine it was okay. If an interview tanked or the person sent an email that read as though it was being sent because they "should" send one, then their resume was filed in the round filing cabinet. I sent a follow-up email to my interviewer because I appreciated the style in which the interview was conducted and how forthcoming they were with information. The entire interview seemed genuine and they tried to put me at ease from the start. I wanted to let them know I appreciated it.
