I'm just wondering how one would go about starting the process of being posted from one base to another.

Family problems(I'm single, problems are financial relating to my mother and brother/sister) had came up before I was posted off my 3's, but I had already had my posting message to Edmonton. I tried to switch it to Pet before the course ended, but had no luck(through padre and talking with the CoC).

Start by talking to your current chain of command about a compassionate posting.

Tell your CM that you are happy where you are, and that the last place you want to be is Petawawa.

In all seriousness a Contingency Cost move for personal reasons might be the way to go.  Hopefully your COC could recommend this course of action, there seems to be fewer restrictions on your career if you can get that type of posting.

A contingency cost move has no career implications, so I would recommend that first over a compassionate.

Just remember - it's never a given. Bone up on your memo writing skills as well - the stronger the memo, the better chance you have. As Dolphin Hunter stated, DAOD 5003-6 is your friend here, but pay attention to career implications and timeframes.

Well, according to the Career Manager in Cornwall at the D(i)SCO Conference last week ... all 3 that I asked for are (and Borden was on the list) out & filled up for this APS already ...

I got a "pick 3 more spots". I said "nope, you'll send me wherever you send me" ...

I'm expecting a surprise - don't know where that 'surprise' will be though.

I'm expecting a surprise - don't know where that 'surprise' will be though.

Come back to Petawawa with me - i'll get you your Chief's!! Seriously, Kevin told me in Cornwall that I have a VERY slim chance of making it back to G'Town, so Pet is the next logical step for me...
