I am a certified paramedic in Ontario and have recently completed my emca. I have been looking around the Canadian forces site trying to figure out what it would take to be a forces EMT having already completed the primary care paramedic program in Ontario. Would I still be required to take the full EMT course? is there some shorter versions? When you take this course and do all the training are you looked in with the forces for a set number of months or years? do most EMT's get sent to Afghanistan very quickly?

I have more questions but ill leave it at that for now - thanks a ton for anyone that replies and tries to help me with this.

Speak to a recruiter, they'll be able to give you the most accurate information based on your personal situation.  But a good place to start would be here:

and..

Med Techs in the Regular Force are PCP's - you'd likely just have to do the clinical and field phases of your QL3 course.  Deployment would depend upon where you got posted and where that unit was in the rotation schedule.

awesome, thanks for the replies guys.

how do i go about contacting a recruitment officer? is there recruitment officers in every major city?

Might sound a tad simple, but you could always Google "Canadian Forces Recruiting Center" and your current location......    ;)
