Quake in Japan

The predicted wave on the west coast is 50cm, so I don't think it's going to be noticeable.

Ships in deep water aren't generally affected by tsunamis as they have very long periods, low amplitudes, and travel very fast in open water.  It's only once they hit shallow water, slow down, and build that they become a threat.  If the tsunami warning was more serious, they could take the ships into deep water and wait it out.

The Navy dockyard is on the eastern side of the island and quite protected. I would imagine that the duty watches probably added additional lines/hawsers just in case.

The advisory thus far is for the west coast of the Island, Port Renfrew=>Cape Scott.  That's a fair way from Esquimalt - a little closer to where I am at FDU in Colwood.  It might affect the tide a little I'm sure, I wonder if diving ops will be canned today or not.  The last advisory we got, they just tied the ships up a little more, as NS indicated.
