I'm speaking with someone about looking into the CF. She has a degree in criminology.  What trades besides Military Police NCM or Military Police Officer could I bring to her attention given her degree?

Thanks

Nothing specific. I've got a crim degree as well. That and a buck eighty will get me a large coffee.

The only things to which it would specifically lend itself are, as you found, MP. Beyond that it's just another piece of paper on the wall useful for everything from infantry to pilot, but not of particular application anywhere specific.

Realistically, unless she gets into a few narrow branches of public policy, or the justice system, or continues through the academic stream, a degree in crim doesn't actually lend itself specifically to much.

The recruiting website states for MP that:

The minimum academic requirement is a community college diploma in Law and Security Administration, Police Foundations, or a similar program from a recognised Community College or CEGEP

Would a criminology degree count as "similar program", i don't know.

It does.  There is a link on the DWAN on one of the alphabet soup DG something that lists the entry standards for all occupations and entry streams (unskilled, CT trained/untrained, OT etc.)  I will post it on Tuesday unless someone beats me to it.

Outside of MPO/MP, IIRC INT O is the only other officer occuapation where criminology is specifically listed (will double check that), otherwise it just counts as a general degree for both officer and NCM.

I believe this is the link that Hatchet Man is talking about: http://cmp-cpm.forces.mil.ca/dgmp/dpgr/engraph/reports/edustd_e.asp?sec=2&cmpnt=regf&order=mosid&sort=asc

Criminology is not listed for Int O.

Thanks for that, wasn't sure if it was or wasn't, I just remember it has a few specific fields mentioned.
