Guys I was wondering if you think that the budget and Size of Armed forces will be increased over the next few years?

Should it Yes ..will it only the politicians now that ..wait maybe they don‘t even know. just aim in the right direction and fire.

I met some people the other day, friends of a friend, who beleived that the government should decrease military spending. They also had a rather horified reaction when my friend told them that I‘m in the army.

Strangley enough, though, they told me later on that (after much discussion) I had improved their opinions of the military...

But for the question at hand, will it increase? Well, haven‘t they been, ever so slightly, increasing the budget for the past couple of years anyways?

It will absolutely increase, by how much is the question.

I read something interesting somewhere and it said that they don‘t want to increase it by a big amount in one year because then they would have too much money to spend and it would just be sitting around.

I don‘t know if that‘s true, but I found it interesting.

its not that it would be sitting around it comes down to where would it be used ? would it be a one time only bump then next year we‘d be back to what we get and then this new kit would be grounded or unusable due to being broken with no parts or instructors to teach?or is it money that we will have year after year . will the army want to get a new tank or fix all of the ones we have wil the air force want to upgrade their air frames or decide they need a new jacket?the navy may need a new anti terrorist missle but they can only afford a new frigate to be built the you have to look at the long term req. ok you have all this new stuff whos gonna use it ? "nobodys been taught sir?" but dont it look good ? I‘m all in favor of a increase but where ? does JTF need it or do the reservists ? what about the regs? that Air force , the Navy the Army ? how much?

as long as they don‘t touch the pension plan....they will need more dead members before they realize what we need... sad, really sad

Be Patient.

Let‘s see what the hand pulls from the cookie jar, and go from there.

Can you tell us abit about these friends you met...their demographic perhaps. I would like to understand what they have against the military.

There are alot of people who are against the military if not in practice then in princeple.. some people are just total pacifists. (which is of course their perogotive) they feel that no matter what, violence is never an answer.. also if most of their knowlage comes only from what they see on tv about the american military, or say press from the airborne Fiasco, then naturally they will have a pretty negative veiw of the military in general.

and some people just think we are baby killing satan worshiping warmongers.... oh well.. cant win em all.. with those people you just smile and not and say, "well thats your opinion, and youre allowed to have it." at least thats what i do...

then i wire C4 to the Fuel tank of their car... (jokeing...)
