Oddly enough, the GoC is very gun shy about new pay systems right now...

Fun fact: the first release of the Reg F (and some class C) pay system, CCPS, was a few months before Atari released the 2600 video game system. While there have been a few refactorings done since then, that's the level of tech debt being carried.

No more than other pay systems currently running quite well ion Digital VAXs running COBOL…

Note that it's reimbursement of 75% to an annual limit of $7,500, career limit of $30,000. So the individual is still on the hook for the other 25% (and anything beyond $7,500).

True enough. But it used to be that reservists worked their butt off in summer on class B for as long as they could to make enough to pay for their college/university course. 75% for up to $7,500 is still one sweet deal because it finally leaves you with something in your pocket from the summer work to pay for food and lodging and perhaps the odd little night out in winter without having to go too deep into student debt.

Wish they'd had any of these programs when I transferred from RegF to ARes to go to law school. Tuition and all fees and books ran at about $2,500 per year in those days. Best money I ever spent but a little help from the CAF would have been appreciated.

These look like great programs. For those who know, how efficient is the admin process behind them?

I never had an issue with getting my money back as a reservist in the aughts. I had to write a little blurb about why it helped the CAF, and if I recall technical programs weren't covered which I always thought was silly. The Reg force program had some more hoops but in general my money came in on time. Note you get reimbursed on completion not at the front end.
