RE-joining the Army...

Hey everyone,

I use to be in the Army Reserve (Windsor Regiment), joined in 2001. I was in for 2 years and completed BMQ, SQ and DP1 Recce (MOC).

After my DP1 was finished, I got a pretty good civvie job in management at a retail store which led to me getting OUT of the army (since I thought there was no longer any time/space for it in my life).

After a few years doing that, I decided to go back to school and at the same time, realized that I missed the military. So, now I am completing the long process of getting BACK in after a FULL discharge.

Since I have gained more experience in a leadership role in my civvie life and since I am graduating college soon, I thought it would be cool to take some courses with the army to get into becoming an instructor on future courses for new recruits; get a chance to gain some REAL leadership experience (not to mention, I always had a bad taste in my mouth from leaving the army as a "tpr", I always saw myself getting higher in the ranks than that).

So, here are a few questions, first off; once I go back (assuming I'll continue where I left off) i'll have to complete QL4 (or whatever it is called now); After that course is finished, are you automatically promoted to Corporal? (I assumed you needed 2 yrs and all courses up to QL4 completed).

Also, what would I have to do to get promoted to MCpl in a few years, what courses would I need? How do I get involved with becoming an instructor later on? What is it like to be in a leadership role with the army?

Another reason why I would like to do all of this is to gain more life experience that will hopefully assist me in becoming a police officer;

Any help/advice on what I should do to reach these goals would be appreciated, thanks in advance!!!

Well from what I've heard in the MO, to TEACH a BMQ or Recruit School course you need to have your MOD 6 on PLQ which is 6 weeks of hell in Wainwright...Basically concentrating ok leading sections and hard physical labour (Patrolling, trenches, PT, etc...)

Thats the course that can get you promoted to a Master Jack but I can't see any other way of teaching the kind of courses your talking about...

Driver Wheel, Comms, and those kind of courses I know CPL's and whatnot can teach.

Hope it provided some insight.

Yes you need all of your PLQ which for the MO, it's mods 2-6, to teach new recruits
