Wonder if these were "real" Canadians, or just persons holding "passports of convenience ..."?
(i.e. in the shipping industry, "flying a flag of convenience" refers to the practice of registering a ship under the flag of a country with lax maritime laws ... hmmm ... kinda makes one wonder about Canada's reputation as a harbour for terrorist sympathisers ... )

U.S. Troops hold Canadians near Iran-Iraq border
TORONTO - Fifty volunteers who left Canada to join a ''cult-like'' militant group called Mujahedin-e-Khalq are being detained by the U.S. military in Iraq -- more than twice the number previously thought, the National Post has learned.

Remindes me of when all those *******s left to fight with Iraq during the first gulfwar.

They should be shipped to Gitmo in Cuba.

Traitors to the flag should be shot without trial and all remaining family deported. :rage:

I‘ve heard that some countries do not allow people to become citizens until the second generation. Wonder if Canada should take on a policy like that?

Its not just a generation problem, remember all of the human shields that went to Iraq? They weren‘t fighting for Saddam, but they were aiding his defence. As I recall though, once the shooting started they all took off really fast.
