I read a version of the recent throne speech - it says nothing about the Conservative dedication to improving our forces - Is this right or am I reading the wrong article?
It's correct. The CF did not make it into the 5 Priorities of Harper. There was however an article the other day where the defence minister, I think it was the MOD, said that despite the CF not being in the 5 priorities they were still very high on the list and will receive the funding promised during the election. I guess the CF would be Priority 6...
Priority 6??? HAHAHAHA!! I call that very optimistic.
It should come as no surprise that the CF is not a priority with the government. It has been more than a decade since it has.
Of course the MD is going to say that defence is a top priority with the government. He would be out of a job if he didn't.
In my opinion, it is going to take a direct attack on Canada or a branch of Canadian Government (embassies etc...) before our country wakes up and realizes that our forces are "decaying" from lack of funding and prioritization. (I fear this last statement will open a can of worms, however I am completely willing and able to defend this statement).
