Reconstitution

Alright two things Pete:

1. Being CO of NRU Asterix is definitely NOT seen as a step backwards in the NWO community. It's effectively a pre-XO mini command tour, and they definitely do not post plugs there. Asterix is used EXTENSIVELY by our allies for fueling, and by GAC for flag waving ceremonies, and the CO plays a huge roll in all of that.

2. This. Did. Not. Happen.
You would think that a story like this would warrant a story by an actual news agency.

Actual news agencies did their due diligence, realized it's not a factually correct story, and decided not to run with it.

Or realized it's not worth printing, even if true.

"Local man gets angry, says things he regrets" is not exactly front page news.

Not worth printing in a national paper, and conduct to the prejudice of good order and discipline, are two different things.

I have met enough "firebrand" leaders throughout my career to not doubt that some version of this happened... Even if it was just a "Back in Nelson's day you'd be shot", it's inappropriate.

Mission, men, self. Isn't that the officers training standard (and as it should be)?
I have no mission success if I have no pers to accomplish it. If I fuck the troops or act ambivalent to their needs, its Capt Wannabe standing alone in the face of that mission.

Mission, Men, Self is meant to condition the officers to prioritize accomplishing the mission, looking after the personnel they need to accomplish said mission, and knowing their ego has nothing to do innthe fiest two realms.

Understanding your cheek, I too can be pedantic:

What is the origin of the word man?

The term man (from Proto-Germanic *mann- "person") and words derived from it can designate any or even all of the human race regardless of their sex or age. In traditional usage, man (without an article) itself refers to the species or to humanity (mankind) as a whole. The Germanic word developed into Old English mann.

One of the anecdotes that sticks in my mind is from a fellow university student in the early 2000s.

He submitted a paper for a course (it’s in the social sciences but can’t remember specifically what field) and one of the feedback points was that “person” was inherently misogynist bc it had “son” in it. He asked what would be a good substitute, and the prof/TA suggested “perkin”. He said that “perkin” isn’t a word to be used in that context, if it was even a word at all.

I never did ask how he did in that course.

Perkin, surname. Anglo-Saxon corruption of Pierre's Kin or Son of Pierre. Dates to the Norman conquest.

Very much worse than person:

Etymology. From Middle English persoun, personne et al., from Anglo-Norman parsone, persoun et al. (Old French persone (“human being”), French personne), and its source Latin persōna (“mask used by actor; role, part, character”), perhaps a loanword from Etruscan 𐌘𐌄𐌓𐌔𐌖 (φersu, “mask”).

Well hopefully cutting over the counter medication benefits will help the budget more than it erodes moral.

I didn’t even know that over counter medication was free, then again I don’t hang out at the MIR and always just bought my own.

I’m struggling to respond to you without assuming that was meant as an insult. I’m just going to assume it more your personality than anything. Anyways people should learn this through in clearance, but if you don’t the reality is most people in the army will need some over the counter meds and will find out pretty quickly they didn’t need to waste a doctors time with it. Which is the whole point I suppose.
