Hello, I'm new to the post but I may have an old connection. Attached is a photo of my grandfather (Gordon McCurdy) peering down the barrel of his rifle which I assume to be a lee met ford or an early lee-enfield. Note the bayonet lying on the table. The picture (circa 1900-05), may have been taken in the Kingston barracks. My grandfather was born near Kingston and may have been enlisted in the PWOR.
Unfortunately the photo isn't of a high enough resolution to make out the hat badges which would have positively identified the regiment. The only clues may be the uniforms the men are wearing and the kit hanging on the walls ie; a rifle company's shako hat. Perhaps the barracks room itself still stands. I would appreciate it very much if anyone could assist me in verifying the time, place and regiment. Thankyou, Charles Wilton
