Why the rock throwing people?

We don't know what 'sub components' they have been producing for the US Navy since 2009, but they've been doing it for 15yrs now so the USN must be happy with them.

I'm feeling a bit like people are assuming that its not possible for any Canadian company to currently produce or in the future produce, anything that may go into a submarine. Sounds a bit close minded.

If a company produces sub-par parts or product, who really is to blame? The customer for not being a part of the QC from the very beginning of the process? The legal team that failed to adequately review the contract to ensure that QC was properly documented, laid out and had serious repercussions if not followed? The build team for not asserting their power/voice into the delivery process as it was unfolding in real time in front of them? The mgmt team that didn't listen/understand/follow the opinions/suggestions of the delivery team as they were being told?

Forgive us. We've lived through decades of deplorable workmanship and quality from Canadian companies and yards. Most of us on the deck plates are jaded.

I think we would all love to see a Canadian company do good work, but that just hasn't been our experience. And some of us have been in dangerous situations because of crappy Canadian workmanship.

It seems Canadian industry just wants to milk us dry and give us crap work in return.

I will be pleased to be wrong one day.

When they do good work we don't notice because there are no problems, because that entire time you're probably dealing with the terrible work one.

The question I often ask in industry is how many repeat clients does a group have. Then break down the client types. Large, medium, small contracts. Then what the dollar value of those contracts. Finally how many many of those are repeat clients.
A couple of large Canadian Companies have a history of less then desirable workmanship when it comes to Defence contracting. Since they are the only people in town they get those contracts. Sayin that some how they continue to gainfully get the smaller contracts to keep the doors open. I wonder where the balance is.
After the Halifax Ship class build Canada should have become on of the choice supplier of Frigates to our allies. we did not sell a single one to another country. Cost verses client demands often creeps into the situation.
I am wondering if our Shipyards are forging new relationships with international partners. Might see longer term contracts outside of our own Military needs.

Because, at the time, it was, by far, the best damn thing on the water. But the "allies" we deal with all prefer to produce their own instead of buying the best ... and then turn around and sell at a loss to Arab countries or other third world nations to keep their yards going. Not to mention that Americans will not buy foreign no matter what, even if it beats their own products by a million miles.
