Replacing the Subs

Wow!
Good for Noah, quite the feather in his hat.

Hanwha can also buy oil for the refineries it has a share in and LNG.

It can supply ice-strengthened floating LNG stations for Churchill and Nelson faster than we can build the pipelines to feed them.

It can twin Kitimat within a year or so.

It can supply an ice-strengthened fleet of oil tankers on short notice with one of them parked at Churchill as a transfer station to be refilled continuously by the rail cars from the oil by rail project rendered surplus by TMX and US expansions.

They also do renewables and nukes through other Korean partners.

We sell them energy. They refresh our defence snd industrial estates to mutual benefit.

Hope we don’t trade American Overlords for South Korean Overlords, lol.

Can Germany offer that ?
Seems that the media is picking up on the 'show me the money' theme.

Unless the Germans have alot more than Sauerkraut up their sleeves, they are going to lose this bid.

German or South Korean subs? Ottawa's pick will hinge on economic windfall

Spending on major military projects must boost economy, says Carney's defence procurement secretary of state

The only things we should buy from Germany are Schnitzel and Spätzle. Maybe Raddler for the summer.

Its good to see the procurement process now focus in on economics, speed of delivery and cost. Cutting the bid down to two compliant options was the right decision. It speeds up what follows next as you only have to evaluate two bids.
Let us all hope that this same standard is applied evenly and truly across all future procurements from here on out.

Unless you mean animals for the Toronto Zoo I would pass. I would still get Abrams or what every SK will offer.
From what I can gather so far, the SK's have built armoured manufacturing facilities in the following places:

1) Poland
2) Australia
3) Romania
4) ??

I know that some have written that they are being prudent and are offshoring to mitigate some of the risk for living in a tough neighbourhood. It looks as though they have already made long strides in that endeavor. Do they need Canada in order to continue with this and round out their locations?

Australia gives them proximity to SK, an Asia First focused Ally looking to counter China, a resource rich, pro-development location that is still relatively underdeveloped and underpopulated.

Poland gives them a lower cost or comparable cost manufacturing location that is within Europe, within NATO and that has a need to arm against a threatening neighbour that is larger and willing to use force.

Romania gives them a low cost manufacturing location strategically located next to Ukraine, a NATO member and I'm not sure what else, maybe a foothold into purchasing some ship manufacturing assets.
