Replacing the Subs

The world has changed. Maybe some peoples attitudes need to learn and adapt and not be stuck in the "old guard" rut too. There's a trumpeted need for updated modern equipment, why wouldn't that extend to the present structure too?
Sure, but you need to know me, I’m ever so slightly into sarcasm as humour.

I’d love for Canada to have marine commandos, and a couple of LHD.

So those questions awhile back about surfacing a sub through Arctic ice . . .

Quite a bit more complicated than I had imagined

Sicily, Italy, Dieppe. Most amphib operations of any Army unit that I can think of.

I'm told by Submariners that it is technically no longer a periscope - as its all EO/IO digital imaging these days, and no glass and mirrors.
EO/IO digital imaging actually opens up a lot of design space for the submarine. You can essentially put the ops room/bridge wherever you want in the submarine because you don't need a physically long pipe for the periscope.

Instead you can put say a deisel generator in that spot so the exhaust trunking is simplified (amoung other things). Such a great improvement.

Correct. And since it is recorded and projected on a monitor, there is no need for eyepieces through which to peer.

Did the Korean's perhaps retain one attack periscope as backup?
