Replacing the Subs

Spitballing here, what are the chances of these torps being integrated onto the yet to be announced CDC's? Would a dozen subs and a dozen CDC's using them make a reasonable number for production to be based here?

You might be on to something.

LIG Nex1 produces:

Heavy K731 White Shark "Baeksangeo"
Light K745 Blue Shark "Cheongsangeo"
Long-range K745A1 Red Shark "Hong Sangeo"

So I think a factory here would likely produce more than just one type to justify it's existence.

No.

Let's go over this again: Submarines use heavy torpedoes. Modern ASW ships use light toprpedoes.

Why? because heavy torpedoes are near impossible to handle at sea in a surface ship so you would be limited to the ones carried in tubes, and no more. Also, the light torpedoes are the ones employed by you embarked helicopter, so from your torpedoes magazine, you can supply both your helo and your ship's tubes - and if need be as you run low, you can employ the ship's ones on your helicopters.

The article talked directly about the potential production of 3 types of torps - heavy, light and long range as @HavokFour pointed out.

Sorry. Didn't pick up on that.

Then fire away. Sort of. We'd have to figure if the tubes and helicopter hanging points can be the same as the ones for NATO standard torpedoes. Otherwise, we could be setting ourselves up for having to have our own exclusive supply chain with in NATO countries.

Yes, 100%

Pulling on the thread a bit more, it could be the case, longer term, that if these torps are produced within Canada that during the first re-fit of the Rivers, their torps could be converted over to handle these produced domestically here in Canada. That would create a potential scenario where over 35+ vessels would be using the same torp.
Is that number a reasonable number for synergies and size in terms of production and supply chains?

Is it even certain that the RCDs will have torpedo launchers?

Blue Shark's appear to be compatible with many (NATO) systems, including SEA's TLS.

I hear that they will - standard 12.75" tubes to launch MK.XX torps (46/50/54? ) Standard lightweight ASW torps, same type as carried on the helo.

Did some google, and the SK lightweight torp is shown in a couple of spots as being 'equivalent' to the 50/54. Also same diameter at 324mm.
