Replacing the Subs

Ok, I not a big fan of that timeline. Also why does it seems that they're already trying to cut down the number.

'Sigh' I'm not trying to be one of those people that goes auto 'liberals don't do anything to actually help the arm forces' but this is not picturing a good image of them.
I don't think they are 'cutting down the number' - its a negotiation tactic. If your seller knows that for certain you're going to buy 12, then they price their product for 12. If they think that you might buy 12 depending on the overall price, then they price it in your favour to buy 12. Think of the sales that you see at the store - buy 5 and get 1 free. So if you buy 10, you get 2 free. That's a normal marketing tactic.

I think we can cut the doomerism. The 212CD will be one of the stealthiest hunter-killers on Earth. Now I thought that it would be cool to go Korean but either way Canada has a far more lethal navy and by FOC will be a global leader in modern sub warfare. Im very very curious to see what TKMS offered for industrial benefits behind closed doors to lead to this outcome. Either way, its a good day for Canada.

I think the likelihood of a Gripen purchase has gone down substantially with this announcement, giving Europe a big win.

I predict an announcement that LM will get the remaining 88.
Yup especially as the American AmbASSador had two of them fly over Ottawa on July 4.

Statistically I won't be around to see the delivery of the first of the 212s, but I might just make a greater effort to live longer to see if a. any Canadian government will really carry through with this and not take the easy way out, cancel once Trump is gone and pay the penalties or b. they cheap out and buy a fraction of the 12. A good reason to keep healthy just to watch this unfold. Please excuse the cynicism. The curse of being a cold warrior.
