hi i was just wondering how mush the reserve force to reg force signing bonus is and how long u must serve afterwards...

Thanks alot

Maybee im out in left field here but this is the first ive heard of a reserve to reg signing bonus, could you elaborate more on where your info comes from.Occasionally ive heard of signing bonuses for dentists or doctors but not one to encourage reservists to join the regular force.Especially if the government plans to recruit 5000 new regs and 3000 reserves.

I have never heard of a signing bonus for transfer from Reserve to Regular. After the bad feelings from a few years back when the RegF last "raided" the Army Res for transfers, I doubt very much that an idea like this would be proposed. IMHO it would be condemned swiftly and loudly by the Reserve (among others..) as "headhunting". Contact your CFRC and ask them.

Cheers

It may be in ignorance that I reply to such an outdated post, but here you go:

There is definitely a Res to Reg transfer bonus. As I have never done it I do not know the details. It is however $20,000 taxable. Not bad.

I do not know if applies to any trade, but it was done for a couple sigOps I know.

Only on certain trades, and only for skilled transfers.

Sig Op, skilled applicant (skilled is having reached the Basic Occupational Qualification as defined by the occupational specification for the component from which the member is transferring + 36 months FTPS) is:

$20,000, taxed, on a 4 year VIE.

Bonus is payed in 2 lump sums, one once you have cleared into the gaining unit, and second payment 12 months later. Full VIE must be served.

Per se, tehre is no "signing bonus" for reservists doing a CT to the Regular force.
The BONUS might be refering to combat arms trade reservists who do a CT after a tour to Afghanistan... they move over in the same rank & at the same IPC.

Reservists who have collected $$ under the 50% tuition refund and who later apply to the Regs into a position where there is a signing bonus.... The CF will deduct whatever you did receive under the 50% plan from your "signing bonus".

If you had done a better search, you would have found this topic discussed a little more recently than this one.

Yes, there are Signing Bonus'.

No, they are not offered for all Trades.

No, they are not offered all the time to all applicants to these Trades.

What Trades have a Signing Bonus?  A Trade that has a manning shortage may offer a Signing Bonus.

Does everyone entering one of these Trades get a Signing Bonus?  Yes, if they meet the criteria of the Signing Bonus, which means that they are already holding qualifications required for that Trade.  No one will get a Signing Bonus in one of these Trades, if they are not able to meet the criteria.

Does a Signing Bonus apply to a Trade forever?  No.  Once that Trade has met their quota, the Signing Bonus will disappear.

A Signing Bonus is a tool used to attract "fully qualified" people into a Trade that is short personnel.

Untrained people are not likely to be in a position to receive a Signing Bonus.

I received a signing bonus. It wasn't under a tuition refund.

Exactly.
I also got a signing bonus, the trade was "red" at the time. They no longer offer that signing bonus. It was $10 000 offered in 2 payments of $5000 (one after basic and the other the year after) and it was taxable.
I got QL5A provisionnal status and my first hook after completion of basic training. There was something wrong with all this, cause they tried to make me attend QL3 (which defeats the purpose of recruiting trained individuals to save $$$ on training). I still had to do all the military oriented courses part of the trade package (quite understandable)...

delavan... in some ways, making you take the QL3 is not an oxymoron in itself... it gives you a chance to see & understand how the CF trade does something.  You were going to pass the course (I would hope) so that isn't a question...

The bonus is for the outside knowledge you're bringing into the trade.

However, given that the trade was "red" at the time they signed you up, it WOULD have been silly to make you do the QL3s "over again"
