Hey, I completed the Online Application on the CF website a few weeks ago and got the confirmation email for all, but haven't heard back or anything, the position in question being with the Reserves in a Health Services unit. I don't really know what to do at this point, go down to the Recruiting Center and just do everything in paper???? Or how long should I be waiting???

Thanks

Have you already visited that Reserve Unit and been accepted by them?

I suggest you contact a reserve recruiter for the unit you are trying to join (in some cases, like in Toronto, the recruiting for all reserve units is centralised to a couple recruiters). In my case, he's the one who gave me the paper application (which is necessary as well as the online application).

In any case, I'm not sure what to think about needing to be "accepted" previous to the application. Again in my case, the reserve recruiter told me that he processes more applicants than job openings (a 2:1 ratio) and that I wasn't guaranteed acceptance upon completing the application process.

Many units require you to attend their Recruiting Info night or speak with their unit Recruiting NCO to receive a document that states you met with the unit and understand what they do and the trade you wish to enrol in; and the ubit is willing to take you on. The Unit Recruiting NCO will likely do all the vetting of requirements to join to ensure you make the minimum and then hand it over to the CFRC. This way the CFRC has less groundwork to do and the unit are not not being surprised with new recruits that didn't do their research.

It must depend on the unit/area,  because I know nothing of this and the reserve recruiter I've been dealing with for a year has made no mention of it. Again, I think things are a little weird in Toronto, with the recruiting pretty centralised.

You didn't read or pay attention to "Step # 1" of the application process which says........

*** If you are interested in joining the Reserves, your first step is to contact one of your local Reserve units to find out which positions are available. They will work with you to identify a job, fill in all the required application forms, and advise you through the process.

Not to mention the part at the very beginning of the Apply Now webpage under "Getting Started".......

Joining the Reserves
If you are interested in joining the Reserves, your first step is to contact one of your local Reserve units to find out which positions are available and then apply online

At the end of the day, if you haven't spoken to a local Reserve Unit in your area, nobody is going to call you and chances are your local CFRC won't do anything for you.
