Retention / Attrition in the Infantry - Ideas???

I was talking to a MCPl the other day about this very topic and he was saying as an infantier he was just plain tired of starting over at square one again and again. What I mean is that every 2 years theres new officers who have this grand plan to change the status quo and then u have a steady stream of new recruits who have to learn everything he just taught to the pte that got out after only one contract. Although there is no workable long term solution to these problems that I can see, so maybe if u cant fix the big problems work on the little ones like the mundane Ex's.

  On another note i was under the impression that other trades are there to support the infantry as we are the back bone of the military. So why is it so hard to exchange Combat clothes or get kit already issued to reservists and the Airforce?

great insight into the infantry. On a hopefully happier note, what is in store for the NCOs who stay in infantry for longer than the first 3 years? Are they stuck playing cards, or is it possible to get a recce course and maybe even jump training? Or is that just wishful thinking in todays army? cheers -Cameron
