A nice start to a series on the National Post by artist Richard Johnson; I had to laugh at the weatherhaven sketch because it seemed like it  could have been my "cubicle" back then!  (minus the odd hole in the mattress)

It'll be interesting to see the art he posts later on.

Thanks for the link!  I thoroughly enjoyed that article and am going to have to keep an eye out for more.

Yes, I was thrilled to see Bill Akerly as one of the subjects.  He does indeed look like a mad scientist vs mat tech.

Thanks for the link. More of his work here: http://newsillustrator.com/FieldWork/index.html

I found it!!!! Always got time for Tim Hortons..    :coffee:

For anyone travelling to Waikiki, and have an interest in this type of quick sketch art, and combat art in general, the Fort Derussy Army Museum has a great collection in it's halls. It was a real treat to see. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U._S._Army_Museum_of_Hawaii

We have a MCpl in our unit who has a great collection of sketches too, many from overseas. I'm not a huge art nut, but I love sketch work. It's so honest and raw.

Thanks for the photo.  I wonder what happened to the trailer?  The Tim's at the Halifax Airport was getting remodeled.  They had one of the trailers there.  It was weird going into it for a coffee as someone had "stolen" all the photo's, Ghurka knife, etc etc, and the staff were dressed funny too.  :(

As of Oct 2010, it was still there but empty.  I was surprised that it wasn't moved right away.
