So you bought it but dont know what it is...rightttttt.
Photos dead grainy but to my untrained eye its either a SMLE jungle carbine or a sportarised SMLE. Ask Wes and maybe the bloke you bought it off, thats just me though, i like to know what i'm getting. Oh, and watch the kick, jungle carbines are great for kick.

Lol well it was free.. my buddys grandfathers.. he died and buddy didnt want to keep his stuff so im not gunna argue. he said it might be a lee enfield but ive been google searching them and i dont see any that look like this one. Ya cam sucks alot

Looks like a Lee Enfield No. 5 Mk. I jungle carbine.

and scroll down.

The flash illuminator looks like that of a Mk 5 Jungle carbine alright, but the pic is a bit grainy and I wouldn’t call myself an SME by a long shot.

M82a1Barrett to make your stay here at army.ca a long and pleasant one might I suggest two things.

One as you identified that you know little or nothing about firearms in general, you may want to reconsider your screen name.

Two

Very hard to make out details, but like Danjanou says, the flash supressor has the Lee Enfield No. 5 Mk 1 "Jungle Carbine"  profile. The reciever is definitly a No 4 or No 5 (they are essentially the same). The butt is not visible in either pic, but a proper No. 5 butt has a sheet metal butt plate with a rubber pad. If the buttplate has a trap and is  gunmetal, ie: looks like brass; or aluminum, it is the butt for a No 4. rifle. Simply put, the Lee Enfield No 5 rifle is essentially a shortened and lightened No 4. The left side of the reciever (on the flat part) should have something like : " No. 5 Mk I ROF  4/45 " and a serial number stamped or electropencil engraved on the side. The pics are just to poor to determine. Do an image search on the net for Jungle Carbine.

thanks allot for the help , looks exactly like the No 5 MK I

Danjanou please man my name has little to do with the topic, I wanted to know about an unknown to my knowledge rifle. My screen name should not be brought up in this ok. I think its uncalled for, its my favorite fire arm and i happen to know a decent amount about it. But are you implying that we have to be geniuses when it comes to guns to have a rifle name in our screen name?

No, he just wants you to use plain English, no msn speak. There are people on the board with the name CAM or Cameron etc...

The point is that some people can take the user's nickname as inferring that the owner has some connected knowledge and experience.  And there's a big difference between experience with an M82A1 Barret and a "tippmann 98 custom".

right, then. Paintballing cadet who knows nothing about firearms and chooses to get pissy with Staff when given mild direction.

Noted.

You still didnt tell me about my cam sucking or what ever it was you were saying (i didnt quite get it).
PS, you should have thought more before you posted the photos, i'm not being arrogent but it's going to bite you in the arse. Explaining things fully is smiled apon around here. Dont get snooty with people higher up then you either,

Cam as in web camera, its not the best on the market, and im not being snooty im simply asking why it seems to be such a big problem that my screen name has to do with a 50. cal rifle. I come on here for help and information and instead i get flamed on for my screen name. Sorry if i came off as pissy but its hard to have a tone of voice on a computer

Use proper english (Ya is an australian way of saying "You"), explain everything fully and always watch out for the big bad bitter person who's had a bad day and wants to smash you. Thats what i do every time i post, you should think about doing the same

It doesn't fit as a screen name, I tried it. 8)

m82a1Barrett,

I'm one of the nicer mods here (kind of a mod light), ask the cowboy, it's due to my advance age I guess. Therefore you got a gentle reminder for a minor infraction of the sites rules. Keep up with the attitude and you will receive an intro to the warning system as per the lings I posted for you to read. Your call and I suggest you choose wisely young Padawan.

Hale, relax man, he was talking about the picture he took with his cam.
What's with people on this forum? Seems like many of you get frustrated over little details and for nothing.
Just relax, btw, to the poster who bashed him for his nickname; that was stupid, why should his nickname have anything to do with
his knowledge.

And Locked.
