While there is little reason to use the birthday of a Scottish poet as justification for having a wee dram (or several) of whisky, the consumption of a meal based on sheep offal and oatmeal will probably require a special occasion. And so we arrive at the 25th of January, on which Robert Burns was born in 1759.
